If enough "key" people on here liked the way the hiper looked, the "majority" would follow. Iv'e seen a number of trends on tt.net in the time i've been here. This is not a cut, just an observation. And it doesnt speak for all, just in generality. People tend to conform with the popluar opinions as to not be the one out. Im sure a lot of people on here will alwasy dislike the hipers, but im also sure a substantial number of people who like them are scared away from buying them so as they are not made fun of.. and some probally even take it a step farther and make fun of others who have/like them. People use to love and swear by katzkins interiors, before the permanent group buy people would arrange regular group buys on these. Now anytime anyone mentions them, the answer is "their crap" get steamyz instead. Yeah steamyz are nice, but so are katzkins for the price their at. At first everyone hated the gtz-r, prefered the more conservative stillen front lip, then enough people started getting the gtz-r, and the "general" opinion of it changed on the board. Then when the new stillen ducted panel came out people thought it was tacky compared to the louvered, but it caught on. When the Gtzr-II first came out almost everyone on here unanomously agreed it was the most hideous thing in the world. And while some still feel that way, quite a few more people approve of it now. lets see, what else, ah yes everyone use to clear their own tail lights said j-specs were a waste of money, and while the price has come down considerably and yeah they do look way better, they are still about 10 times more then the do it at home route, but hardly anyone does it anymore cause its not the cool thing to do. People use to say a front mount intercooler was way to complicated, not enough space, some would chirp up and say hay they are doing it in japan, but then people would shrug it off, after enough people started doing it here, it became much more common even before the kits were readily available. Then for a while royal purple was all the rage..:shrugs:.. Also why is it the stillen type 3 wing is popular when most other big wings are flamed? Indiglo gauges use to be purely "rice" now many have them, not all but many more then the few who were flamed for it before. Most people get jumped all over for being inapropriate when they post pictures of boobies, but thats because the trend is conservatism on this board. Im sure plenty of us on here don't object to seeing naked women or lesbian sex if their is a z somewhere in the background to keep it z related. Hell, a lot of boards have a porn section on their car forum. And last but not least.... the most annoying tt.net trend.... drum roll...........The "trend" to jump all over a newbie anytime they ask something that has been asked before and is in search. By jumping all over newbies, you make yourelf look like a veteren right? Well i got news for you, most everything that can be asked is already in search, and strictly adhearing to that policy would result in the discussion forum ceasing to have a purpose to exist. But it is fun to interact. And sometimes the search is a pain in the ass because for ever one helpful search result their is 10 more search results that have your question, but only "use search!!!!" as an answer. Ok, its probally pointles to post a in depth rant burried at the bottom of a trivial thread, but i had to vent. Don't get me wrong I love you guys, but some of you need to stop being afraid to think for yourselves. and here is my hiper pic
